Nakamura is Fun

By: Charles Cress

So, in case you haven’t seen (and if you have, let’s watch it again together)…

Shinsuke Nakamura, THE KING OF STRONG STYLE is here in WWE! …Well, NXT but whatever! Like Kendrick Lamar says, don’t kill my vibe!

In honor of this, I thought I’d share some of my favorite examples of why he’s so fun.

This match. This…this is just sexy. And it’s not because I have the most insane man-crush (to be honest, the “man” part probably isn’t necessary) on Zack Sabre Jr. (Though I do. I love him. I want to be with him. Please notice me, Zack!) Look at that entrance! Nakamura knows exactly what makes wrestling fun: embracing it! No tough guy walks. Just pageantry! Pro wrestling matches from entrance to finish are like a gender fluid parade that ends with a reenactment of the Beat It music video. Nakamura gets it. I can’t wait to see what he does with NXT – especially because you know he’s going to want to beat Finn Balor’s memorable Jack the Ripper entrance.

All the above. He’s literally a king.

His finisher is just jacking dudes in the head with his knee. I approve…because that’s how I’d have to win a wrestling match. I can’t do a suplex! I can’t do a moonsault! But I can knee somebody…if they’re kneeling…and stay still!

Look: I don’t think Nakamura is going to change EVERYTHING. He’s signing at an advanced age. He’s starting (probably staying) with NXT. I don’t think he’ll ever be main-eventing Wrestlemania. He may not ever come up to the main roster. But man, that doesn’t mean he’s not fun. You know who I want to see him with the most? It’s not even the litany of big time signees (Aries, Joe, Balor, Zayn). It’s the homegrown Performance Center talent. It’s like watching a self taught musician sit in with an experienced band. You never know what they’re going to do next. It’s the literal clash of styles and I think that makes for the most fun. #CorbinVsNakamura
